Prepare 1099 misc forms—how it works
Preparing 1099 Misc Forms are available as a Plus feature.
QuickBooks Online helps you prepare and print 1099-MISC forms.* It helps save you time by:
- Stepping you through the setup process that allows you to track payments to vendors that might require you to file 1099-MISC forms
- Presenting you with an easy to use summary screen of all 1099 payments for the selected calendar year
- Printing the required number of 1099-MISC copies for each vendor
- Providing you with all the summary information necessary to fill out Form 1096.
The IRS requires you to file a 1099-MISC form for each vendor to whom you make certain types of payments. The form is called 1099 Miscellaneous Income because your vendor will need to claim these payments as income. You must mail these forms to vendors by January 31 for payments made in the previous tax year. You must also mail these forms to the IRS by February 28 along with a Form 1096.
*QuickBooks Online can print 1099-MISC forms for the tax years 2001, 2002 and subsequent years.
